Through her social media, Tracy Decoff, the mother of Destini Decoff, announced that a candlelight vigil and balloon release will be held Tuesday, April 16 at 6:30 PM at Cornell’s Irish Pub.

Ms. Decoff was the victim of a tragic accident last week, when she was allegedly intentionally struck by 36-year-old Ryan Sweatt of Milford, in an apparent act of road rage. Ms. Decoff later succumbed to her injuries at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester.

On Facebook, Tracy Decoff wrote:

All are welcome ???? I’m aware that news outlets are watching my FB & I want this vigil to receive the coverage that my daughter deserves. I only ask, please do so from a distance. This is traumatic enough for my other children. Their well being is my first priority. Please respect our space & everyone that attends. Since Destini’s story is all across the United States, I’m calling on the nation. For anyone that can’t attend, please join us in lighting a candle in her memory ????️The world loves you Jordan Destt #justicefordestini #forever26

Mr. Sweatt remains in custody at the Billerica House of Corrections pending the outcome of a Dangerousness hearing.

While the Commonwealth initially charged Mr. Sweatt with Assault and Battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, operating to endanger, and a marked lanes violation, it is now likely that the charges will be elevated to second degree manslaughter, according to legal experts who are familiar with the case.
