Summary

HPD made several arrests, including those charged with operating under the influence of liquor, marked lane violations, reckless operation, and operating an unlicensed motor vehicle.

Officers also responded to a wide range of community concerns, including downed trees blocking roads, a truck fire on the highway, and a residential fire alarm that was determined to be accidental.

Additional calls included aggressive turkeys in a parking lot, reports of suspicious behavior, missing property, and various motor vehicle accidents, most of which resulted in no injuries. Police assisted with issues involving trespassing, disputes between individuals, missing persons, and animal-related incidents, such as a dead coyote or dog in the roadway.

Other notable activities included helping residents with lost credit or debit cards, addressing vehicles parked in hazardous spots, and responding to reports of people stuck in an elevator and motorcycles driving recklessly.

  • On April 26, LD of Upton was arrested on charges of:

    • Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle
    • Operating under the influence of liquor

April 22

  • A caller reported that a tree was down, blocking half of Granite Street. Officers Walker and Diaz responded. DPW assisted.
  • A caller reported a truck on fire on I-495.
  • Officer Buentello responded to a residential fire alarm on Windsong Way. The homeowner confirmed it was an accidental activation from cooking.
  • Officer Cappuccio responded to a report of a landscape truck in a bad spot on Lumber St. Upon arrival, the landscapers were finishing up and moved the vehicle.
  • Westborough PD requested that Hopkinton PD check for a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run.
  • A walk-in requested to speak with an officer regarding a recurring issue with an ex-roommate.

April 23

  • A walk-in required assistance walking in to get the record he submitted for the request the previous week. He needed them for court.
  • A caller reported turkeys in the Dell parking lot that are being aggressive towards employees.
  • A walk-in reported that he had found a credit card.
  • The caller reported that his daughter had stolen his wife’s car.
  • Officer LaTour reported that a turkey was hit by a vehicle on Cedar St.
  • A caller reported a loose black poodle mix in her yard on N Mill St.
  • A caller reported suspicious behavior involving someone with a flashlight in the woods.

April 24

  • A 911 caller reported a motor vehicle accident on W Main St. There were no injuries.
  • A caller reported that a permitted burn had gotten out of control on Falcon Ridge Drive.
  • A caller reported a missing black leather bag. The owner last saw it at her workplace.

April 25

  • A caller reported a vehicle that had been parked outside their house on Walcott St. for four days.
  • The 911 caller reported someone was trespassing on her property.
  • A caller reported a turkey that seemed to be “off”. It hadn’t moved in two days. ACO was notified.
  • Two 911 callers reported a two-car motor vehicle accident on Main St. No one was injured.
  • A woman reported that she got into a verbal argument with a man while walking her dog on B St.

April 26

  • Hopkinton PD was contacted regarding a 25 y/o female who walked away from a vehicle on the Mass Pike and has not been found.
  • Officer Walker assisted a walk-in looking for their crash number.
  • A walk-in reported receiving a threatening text from a person they don’t know. Officer Walker called the involved party, who stated she was at a state hospital where she was seeking treatment for her schizophrenia.
  • Caller reported a coyote or dog dead in the roadway on Ash St. A message was left with ACO.

April 27

  • A caller reported trees on wires on Pleasant St. Eversource was contacted.
  • Officers checked on a vehicle that was reported on Benson Rd. Previously that morning. The man and woman in the car were okay.
  • A report of an aggressive turkey came in on South St. A Passerby reported the turkey was attacking cars.
  • A manager reported a vehicle in the fire lane on W Main St. Officer Walker issued a verbal warning.
  • A 911 caller reported two people stuck in an elevator on Church St.
  • A caller reported a motorcycle doing wheelies and driving at high speeds on Cedar Street in Southborough. The Southborough PD was advised when the cyclist headed that way.
  • A walk-in turned in a debit card, and the owner was contacted.
