Hopkinton Police Incident Log for January 2, 2024

A series of comical events unfolded in Hopkinton over the holidays. From a lost Aussie Poodle mix to a Pokemon Go-playing man with green hair, and a woman mistaking an Amazon delivery for a face-printed window, it was anything but a silent night. Even the deer and a self-cleaning oven got in on the action!

Arrests

  • On December 18, John Mercier of Northbridge was arrested on charges of:
    • Operating under the influence, 2nd offense
  • On December 21, Balamurugan Ramakrishnan of Hopkinton was arrested on charges of:
    • Operating under the influence
  • On December 24, Gabriel Rodrigues Dos Santos of Stoughton was arrested with a straight warrant arrest.

December 18

  • Officer McNeil responded to a report of packages in the road. He brought them back to the station.
  • Numerous reports concerning trees down were called in throughout town. Some blocked the road ways and other knocked down power lines. Eversource responded when necessary and the fire department also stepped in.
  • Officer Santoro assists a school bus getting by.
  • Two car accident occurred on West Main. There were no injuries.
  • Three officers respond to reports of a vehicle driving all over Lumber St.

December 19

  • Two car accident occurred on Hayden Rowe heading toward Milford. One car hit a rock wall. Ted’s responded to the scene. Injuries were unknown upon arrival.
  • Caller reports cars going through a road closure with wires on the ground.
  • Officer Santoro checked on a suspicious vehicle on Hayden Rowe and advised them to move along.
  • Detail officer stated a vehicle hit his car and took off on Fruit St.
  • Officer Normandin assisted the fire department with a report of smoke in a basement.
  • Woman reported a cell phone on her porch and a face print on the window. The woman believed it belongs to an Amazon driver that just dropped off packages.

December 20

  • Caller reported some money missing from her room and would like to speak with an officer.
  • Officers McKeon and Normandin checked out a report of a suspicious man with green hair and dark clothes walking around by Main St. The man was playing Pokemon Go.
  • Vehicle slid on black ice and hit a guardrail on Whisper Way.

December 21

  • Ashland PD alerted Hopkinton PD of an erratic driver headed toward them. The operator was issued a verbal warning.
  • Officers Buentello and Schofield checked on a vehicle with their hazards on. The vehicle had requested a tow and Ted’s was on their way. The officers offered a courtesy ride to the driver.
  • Individual reported receiving multiple phone calls from a man that wanted to speak to them about a theater video they were in. The man claimed the videos changed his life and wanted to thank the individual. The individual wanted it logged for now.
  • Woman called to report an attempted fraud. The woman was aware it was a scam and was instructed to call again if the incident occurred again.
  • Two men that appear to be solicitors were concerning neighborhood residents and were reported.

December 22

  • 911 caller reported he crashed his vehicle into a tree. Ted’s was en route.
  • Officer McKeon checked in with a state trooper at a traffic stop. The trooper was alright and was on their way.
  • Homeowner called stating he had footage of two men walking around his property from a few hours before and would like to speak with an officer.
  • Ashland requested an officer locate a vehicle going through Hopkinton heading towards 495. The operator had an altercation with his wife.
  • Woman requested an officer check her neighborhood for a white F-150 that had been parked in front of her house for sometime that concerned her.
  • Officers Normandin and Ziniti removed a belligerent and verbally abusive woman from the premises after a report was called in.
  • Caller reported a vehicle he noticed with their head lights off in his neighborhood. The caller was concerned because their neighbor wasn’t home. Officer Grimley responded and confirmed a vehicle in the area was registered with a limo service but couldn’t identify the vehicle that was called in.
  • Plainville requested Hopkinton PD make contact with a resident that was a witness in a theft in their town.

December 23

  • Caller reported an icy spot on Elm St. The DPW was contacted and sent a crew.
  • Caller reported an outside fire that was possibly illegal. The fire department responded and extinguished the fire.
  • Walk-in reported a suspicious note left in their mailbox.
  • 911 caller reported a deer hit by a vehicle. The deer was still alive but the vehicle requested a tow.
  • Officers Buentello, LaTour, and Walker check on a report of three cars outside on the street with the occupants screaming and yelling. Two of the vehicles took off and the officers worked to track them down.

December 24

  • Caller reported her 7-year old Australian Shepard Poodle mix went missing. Eventually she called back to say she found her.
  • Caller reported there was an older man sitting in the roadway wearing a black hoodie and a blanket wrapped around him. The man’s brother was coming to pick him up.

December 25

  • Caller reported their self-cleaning oven started smoking. The house was evacuated and a window was left open.
  • 911 caller reported a vehicle driving with no headlights on. The vehicle was unable to be located but it was likely they drove home.

December 26

  • A report of two people walking down Cedar St wearing all black was called in. The caller was concerned there would be an accident. Officer Buentello couldn’t locate the parties.
  • A passerby reported a fire alarm sounding on Main St.
  • Officers LaTour, O’Neil, and Schofield reported someone yelling threats while they were walking and threw a bottle.
  • Woman reported someone threw eggs at her car and damaged it.

December 27

  • Officer Schofield checked on a vehicle in a parking lot unattended. Everything appeared to be okay.
  • Caller stated a small white dog with brown spots wandering around. The dog has a collar but the caller cannot get close enough to read it since the dog growls. Animal control was notified.

December 28

  • Officer Saletnik checked on a vehicle. The party had pulled over to move stuff on her back seat.
  • Officers Grimly, O’Neil, and Staback observed a vehicle that was driving all over the road. Once they checked in they realized the car had a flat tire.

December 29

  • Caller reported the cars of construction workers were parked where they weren’t supposed to be. Officer Staback spoke with the workers and they said they’d move their cars.
  • Water department was alerted of a van parked in front of the well and no one around. The van was blocking the gate.

December 30

  • Caller reported pants and shirts missing from her room.
  • Officer Walker checked on cars parked in front of the high school. Parties were all set.
  • Parents called asking if it was okay for their 19 year old son to use his BB-gun in their backyard. The son was allowed.
  • Woman reported receiving an Amazon package addressed to her that she did not order. it was a dead bolt lock.
  • 911 caller states she is behind an erratic driver that hit the curb and almost another vehicle.
  • 911 caller reported her vehicle was hit. She did not suffer any injuries but she was shaken up. Her 1-year old was in the back seat but was okay.

December 31

  • Northborough called requesting help identifying occupants in a vehicle registered to a Golden Pond resident that was involved in a road rage incident.

January 1

  • Walk-in locked himself out of his house and would like some assistance.
  • 911 call reported road rage on Main St.
