On Wednesday night HHS Coach Stephen Simoes was recognized as the 2021-2022 MIAA Baseball Coach of the Year. This award recognizes excellence in character, service, leadership and coaching.
“Coach Simoes’ philosophy of athletics is completely centered around character, integrity, and sportsmanship ahead of wins and losses. He truly views coaching at the high school level as an extension of the classroom. One of his favorite sayings is that baseball is “Free practice for life.” He is far more concerned with teaching the players how to deal with life’s inevitable adversities than he is with teaching them to hit a curveball.” -Coach Jay Golden
