Walter and his BFF, Nicholas, are two adorable dogs, whose lives of struggle caused them to cross paths creating a friendship that is truly special. Although their individual struggles are composed of widely different experiences, they share a mutually beneficial relationship with each other, and we at Baypath hope to find a family where they can remain together.

Walter’s Story
Walter’s journey is one of survival, bravery, and the life-changing power of love. Walter is from Alabama, where he was seized by authorities in the aftermath of a massive cruelty case. This incident was among the worst in recent Alabama state history, with nearly 75 animals crammed into a single house.
When officials arrived, 30 animals had already died, and many more had to be euthanized. Walter was the only male who made it out alive, despite all odds being stacked against him. He was a victim of abuse and neglect and had never experienced compassionate human interaction.
After going through such dire situations, Walter is now accepting of love. This vivacious two-year-old loves going for walks, playing with stuffed animals, and, most importantly, creating new pals—specifically, his canine BFF Nicholas!

Nicholas’ Story
Nicholas was five years old when his owner passed away—and he found himself at a Florida shelter. He arrived alongside his canine sister, who was quickly adopted. That left Nicholas behind, looking for his second chance at a forever home. When he arrived at Baypath, he was a shy boy who took long naps.
That was until he met Walter. The two dogs share a wonderful bond, and the pairing has changed Nicholas from a timid dog into an active, happy, cuddly pooch. Their tails are always wagging when they are together, and they make everyone laugh as they zoom back and forth. Nicholas has enjoyed teaching Walter all about what it means to be a dog—including how to play with squeaky toys, cuddle up in cozy beds, and lean in for affection and head scratches.
Nicholas is a fabulous role model for Walter, and Walter has helped Nicholas heal after his significant loss and transitions. An experienced pup, Nicholas is housebroken and serves as a calming influence on Walter, guiding him like a big brother.
These two best buds are looking for a forever home together, where they can continue their incredible journey of trust and companionship. Baypath will waive their adoption fees to help make Walter and Nicholas’ dream a reality!
