Think your vote doesn’t matter?
The gap between the highest and lowest number of votes was just 21! Even more striking, the difference between winning a seat on the Select Board (where you could vote for two candidates) and missing out was only nine votes.
Questions:
- If you didn’t vote in the Select Board race, do you have the right to complain about the board’s decisions?
- Technically, yes—you’re free to express your opinion because this is America.
- But should you complain if you weren’t among the 2,243 people who voted?

Congratulations to Shahidul Mannan, Matt Kizner, and Peter Mimmo for winning their respective races!

Dear Editor,
I would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to HopNews for finally publishing the results of this year’s town elections. It’s reassuring to know that a sharply worded letter to the editor can still motivate action—even if it’s just to avoid having to print it.
Of course, the community understands that journalistic timing is everything. What better time to post election results than exactly after someone points out their glaring absence after two days? Last year, results were published on election night, followed by a cheerful podcast with the winners the next day. This year, the silence was noticeable—until, quite suddenly, it wasn’t.
Some may call it coincidence. Others may call it… inspiration. Either way, HopNews should be commended for embracing the time-honored journalistic tradition of doing the right thing—when they’re about to be publicly shamed for not doing it.
We look forward to next year’s coverage—perhaps we can all save time and just schedule the reminder letter in advance.
Dear Editor,
Thank you for your transparency. I hope you are feeling better.
Hopnews is yours to use as you wish. I look forward to future articles and how you transform it in your own way.
Best wishes!
Thank you, Kim. I appreciate you.
