BELLINGHAM — A cyclist was hit by a car on Tuesday, June 9, in Bellingham on South Main Street. The police were called to the location just before 1 P.M. following a report of a motor vehicle striking a bicyclist.
It was 60-year-old Robert Gauthier of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, who later died from injuries suffered in the crash. He was given medical attention at the scene and taken by ambulance to Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver who struck him is a 17-year-old from Sutton, MA. He remained on site at the time of the crash. The juvenile has been charged with motor vehicle homicide, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and marking lanes violation, the police said. He was not identified because he is a minor.
The Bellingham Police are investigating the crash with the assistance of the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council and Worcester County District Attorney’s Office. Police are still trying to piece together what led to the fatal crash.

Something doesn’t make sense: A bicyclist got hit in Bellingham by a driver driving in Worcester?
Great catch, thank you.
Thanks for editing to clarify.
Ugh. This avid bike rider shakes his head whenever this happens.
I’m guessing nothing will happen to the driver.
I have checked in with Chief Miller, now of Bellingham. This was not an ‘intersection crash’, or a wrong-way crash. He did not say much more, as it was still under investigation, but my take is the biker was hit from behind. Again, conjecture, but I suspect ‘distracted driving’.
