Donna DeMeo: A Loving Mother and Grandmother Remembered

Donna (Sulfaro) DeMeo, 72, of Amherst, NH, passed away on December 4, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Raised in Hopkinton, MA, she was the daughter of the late Jeanne (Dellegatto) and Frank Sulfaro. Donna graduated from Hopkinton High School in 1971 and then attended Framingham State University, earning her bachelor’s degree.

Donna married John DeMeo on May 4, 1980, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hopkinton, MA, and they were married for 45 years. Together, they raised a loving family in Kingston, NH. In their retirement, they enjoyed many trips together.

Donna was a dedicated teacher’s aide, working for 16 years in the Sanborn Regional School District in Kingston, NH, in pre-school and pre-kindergarten classrooms. 

Her proudest role in life was that of a mother and grandmother. In addition to her husband, Donna is survived by her children: Dr. Stephen DeMeo and his wife Shannon of Raleigh, NC; Matthew DeMeo and his wife Lindsay of Milford, NH; and Andrea Curley and her husband Michael of Seymour, CT. She also leaves behind her brothers, John Sulfaro and Richard, and his wife, Sandra Sulfaro, as well as six loving grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Friday, December 12, at 9:30 A.M. at the Callanan Cronin Funeral Home, 34 Church Street, Hopkinton, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 20 Church St., Hopkinton, MA. Burial will follow in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Hopkinton. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, December 11, from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M.

Donations in Donna’s memory may be directed to support the wife of Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
