On Friday, October 20 from 12:00 – 2:00, the Hopkinton Police Department invites all Hopkinton students and their friends to walk downtown to the Common, where there will be games, food and fun. This is a free community event, and is supported in part by downtown businesses Bill’s Pizza, Hop-Yo, Muffin House and Middlesex Savings Bank.

The town has also rented two mobile video game trucks, which will be parked on Marathon Way.

School lets out at noon on Friday, and recently several local businesses have struggled to manage the surge of students that walk downtown. Some business have complained of a rise in theft.

Detective Sergeant Scott Van Raalten is coordinating this effort, and has scheduled several of his fellow officers to be onsite to meet with the kids and engage in the community.

“We’re hoping the weather holds,” said Van Raalten.

Library Holds Drop-In Gaming

The Hopkinton Public Library is also hosting a free drop-in video game series on every early release day. No registration is needed, and the hours are from 1:00 – 4:00. This program is generously funded by the Hopkinton Public Library Foundation.
