Strange Events and Arrests: Hopkinton November 3-9 Recap

Published on

Summary

The Usual Suspects Department: Two drivers learned that November is not the month to test their holiday spirits early, as they were arrested for OUI on consecutive days. One Whitinsville resident apparently decided insurance and registration were optional accessories.

Attack of the Killer Trees & Fans: Mother Nature clearly had it out for Hopkinton this week. Trees fell on vehicles, blocked roads, required Eversource assistance, and—in a theatrical flourish—one decided to burst into flames on Ash Street. Things That Shouldn’t Be on Fire But Were: A ceiling fan in an upstairs bathroom joined the arson party, because apparently, trees can’t have all the fun.

Questionable Life Choices: The award for creative driving goes to the motorist navigating Main Street with TWO DOGS ON THEIR LAP. When stopped, they were deemed “all set”—though one questions by whose definition. Not Quite Ocean’s Eleven: Two men in caps attempted to gain access to a residence by claiming to be “solicitors” but lacking any credentials. Points deducted for poor criminal planning.

The Scream Heard ‘Round Hopkinton: Officers responded to a woman with a knife screaming outside a building. Plot twist: by arrival, she’d relocated to the second floor. No context provided, much mystery remains. Community Service Moment: Officer Ekross provided a courtesy transport for a disabled woman and her mother after their car broke down—reminding us that not all police work involves dogs on laps or flaming trees.

The Call That Stumped Everyone: Someone phoned about a mouse in their house. The Animal Control Officer dispensed wisdom remotely. No SWAT team required.
