Veterans Celebrations: Honoring Our Heroes

Published on

Nearly 100 Veterans and guests gathered to celebrate Veterans Day at the Woodville Rod & Gun Club on the evening of November 11th for dinner, dessert, and socializing with fellow Veterans. The Veterans Celebration Committee (VCC) hosted this event as part of its annual Veterans’ Celebrations to honor the service of veterans.

The function room was close to capacity, as VCC Chair Mike Whalen noted, “This is the largest group we have had in many years.”

The Hopkinton VCC provides a catered dinner, which this year was from T.J.’s. The Scouts from Troop 1, Troop 11, and Troop 4 provided for the honorary “posting of the colors” to start the evening. They also served dinner plates to the veterans at their tables.

Many local dignitaries were in attendance, including State Representative Arena-DeRosa. He offered updates on veterans’ benefits that lawmakers continue to work on at the State House. He also commented on a great event that brings all community members together to celebrate our nation’s veterans.

Additional groups supported the evening, such as the Old Guard New England, which provided the “Missing Man Table.” They also entertained later in the evening. The VCC would like to thank all mentioned above, as well as the Woodville Rod & Gun Club, for the use of their hall.
